The American Society of Professional Communicators (ASPC) has announced the launch of its long-awaited membership program. Click here for membership details and a membership application.
"For years, the ASPC has fielded questions about membership from participants in our two highly successful communications awards competitions," said ASPC Membership Director Ruth Stone. "A membership program was always in the plans but had yet to come to fruition. I’m proud to be able to preside over the launch of that membership program now.
"Our membership program, which will be heavily supported by our redesigned Web site, has lofty aims. We seek to become a truly interconnected community for professional communicators to share ideas with one another and to be recognized for their achievements."
The program, as it grows, will offer members opportunities to network and share ideas with other professional communicators, to publish their own stories and advice for others, to serve as mentors or to be mentored, a job board and a place for freelance communicators to advertise their services, and opportunities to be recognized for their excellent work.
"Engaging one another, learning from the experiences of our colleagues and developing relationships that enhance our professional lives leads us to produce higher-quality work and makes the time we devote to our craft more satisfying," said Ms. Stone. "Our program is designed to give members the opportunity to do all of these things and to have a voice in the direction of the membership program as it grows in the years to come."
The American Society of Professional Communicators (ASPC), headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pa., is working to create a platform for education, innovation and the recognition of excellence among professional communicators.
